Summary

In the plenary sittings held on Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 November 2023, Parliament passed the Judicature (Amendment) Bill, 2023 rejecting government’s proposal to increase the number of Supreme Court justices from 11 to 21. While responding to a statement by the Leader of the Opposition Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, on the shrinking civic space and enforced disappearances; the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Gen. David Muhoozi, told Parliament that most alleged missing persons have never been reported to Police. The Minister for Gender, Labor and Social Development, Hon.
