Summary

In the plenary sitting held on Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 January 2025, the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, tasked the Committee on Human Rights to investigate the detention conditions of Dr Kizza Besigye. Legislators urged the Ministry of Internal Affairs to introduce electronic identification cards (e-IDs) without expiry dates stating that it will reduce costs and eliminate the inconveniences associated with mass physical card renewals. Parliament passed a supplementary budget expenditure worth 1.05 trillion shillings to cater for completion of the key national projects and activities. These, in the plenary round-up.
