Summary

In the plenary sittings held on Tuesday 06, Wednesday 07 and Thursday 08 August 2024, the Minister of State for Health (General duties), Hon. Anifa Kawooya revealed that government needs an additional shs18 billion to deploy medical interns. Parliament advised Cabinet to rethink salary enhancements for security forces saying the current arrangement is unfair to junior officers whose welfare is continuously declining. The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo, tabled the National Teachers’ Bill, 2024 which seeks to establish the National Teacher’s Council that will be charged with regulation of the teaching profession, registration, licensing and disciplinary procedures for teachers.
