Kadaga clarifies on manufacture of sanitizer for Coronavirus

Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has allayed concerns raised by Ugandans on social media concerning the potential of manufacturing a sanitizer in Uganda, which has the potential of killing the coronavirus. Addressing plenary on Tuesday, 17 March 2020, Kadaga alluded to information she gave the House about two Ugandan scientists who are developing the sanitizer using a patent donated by US based Professor Sarfaraz Khan Niazi. She also said that the press statement issued by the Uganda Medical Association on her statement on the manufacture of the sanitizer during plenary on Monday, 16 March 2020, ought to have sought her indulgence before its issue. Kadaga told the House that the statement by Health Minister to Parliament on measures to curb Coronavirus had been postponed till after President Museveni addresses the country on the management virus, on Wednesday 18 March 2020.
